Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrive Kigali — Drive to Musanze
Arrive at Kigali International Airport and meet your guide. Drive north to Musanze (approximately 2 hours), the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. Check in to your lodge and enjoy a welcome dinner with a briefing about the days ahead.
Gorilla Trekking — Volcanoes National Park
Early morning briefing at park HQ. Trek into the misty forests of Volcanoes National Park with expert trackers to find your assigned gorilla family. Spend one hour with the gorillas in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and a relaxed afternoon.
Drive to Nyungwe via Lake Kivu
Depart Musanze and drive south along the stunning shores of Lake Kivu — one of Africa's Great Lakes. Stop in Kibuye or Karongi for lunch with lake views. Continue south to Nyungwe National Park. Arrive at your forest lodge in the late afternoon.
Chimpanzee Tracking — Nyungwe Forest
Very early morning start for chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe's ancient rainforest. Trek through dense tropical forest with experienced guides to find a habituated chimpanzee community. Observe their social behaviors, feeding, and interactions. Afternoon at leisure to explore the forest trails around your lodge.
Canopy Walk — Cultural Visit in Huye
Morning Canopy Walkway experience — walk along a suspended bridge 60 meters above the rainforest canopy with breathtaking views. After the walk, drive to Huye (formerly Butare) for a cultural visit to the National Museum of Rwanda and the vibrant local market. Overnight in Huye.
Drive to Kigali — Departure
After breakfast, drive to Kigali (approximately 2.5 hours). Optional stop at the King's Palace Museum in Nyanza. Arrive in Kigali for last-minute shopping or sightseeing before your departure flight.
