Revenue Sharing
Rwanda's innovative revenue-sharing program ensures that 10% of all national park revenues are invested in community projects around protected areas. These funds support schools, health clinics, clean water projects, and income-generating activities for local communities. When you trek with gorillas or visit Akagera, your fees directly fund these programs.
Gorilla Conservation
Mountain gorilla populations have grown from just 250 individuals in the 1980s to over 1,000 today. Your gorilla trekking permit ($1,500) directly funds anti-poaching patrols, veterinary care, and habitat protection. Rwanda has achieved zero gorilla poaching for over a decade — a testament to the success of community-based conservation.
Local Employment
We prioritize hiring from communities near national parks. Our guides, drivers, porters, and support staff come from local villages, and we ensure fair wages and career development opportunities. We also partner with community cooperatives for cultural experiences, ensuring tourism revenue reaches the grassroots level.
Sustainable Practices
We follow strict sustainability guidelines: minimizing waste, using eco-friendly products, supporting lodges with environmental certifications, and educating guests about responsible tourism. We limit group sizes to reduce environmental impact and choose routes that minimize disturbance to wildlife.
